At this moment, it feels like there is no end to the recruiting crisis for law enforcement. Fortunately, it looks like there may be a solution on the horizon. However, there is no ‘Easy Fix’.
Recruiting in law enforcement has changed rapidly over the last decade. It is no longer enough for departments to be “good enough” at recruiting. Law enforcement needs to turn to the experts to fully staff their departments.
Governor Jeff Landry signed an executive order declarng a State of Emergency due to the police officer shortage across Louisiana. SAFEGUARD spoke with Dr. Travis Yates on how Louisiana, and many other departments, can best address their recruiting woes.
As of late, there appears to be an arms race between agencies to see who can offer the largest signing bonus. However, it does not seem like these bonuses are not moving the needle when it comes to recruiting.
